The addition of almonds and brandy to a boiled custard makes a delicious sauce for sponge puddings, pies and stewed fruit.
A spicy sauce to serve with pot-roasted chicken and browned rice. The recipe calls for a green chilli, but if you are not accustomed to eating pungent food remove the seeds before mincing the chilli. Garam masala is a prepared, ground spice mixture of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, cumin seeds, coriander seeds and black pepper. All the ingredients in this recipe are widely available at grocery stores or at Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani grocers.
This is an unusual and delicate dressing for a salad which includes fruit or even for a plain lettuce salad. This recipe makes about 16 fluid ounces [2 cups] of dressing, enough for a salad which serves 8 people. It will keep for several days in the refrigerator in a tightly covered container.

This American cookie recipe is unusual in that no flour is used. Crisp on the outside but chewy inside these cookies are very easy to make.
A moist cake which is simple to make, it keeps well and retains its freshness for at least 10 days if it is stored in a tightly- covered cake tin. With this cake, as with all cherry cakes, there is always the problem that the cherries tend to sink to the bottom of the cake. Some cooks recommend rolling the cherries lightly in flour before adding them to the cake batter. This method,
however, is not always effective. But whether the cherries are well-distributed or sink to the bottom, this cake is delicious.
An excellent dish for lunch or dinner parties. Almond Chicken can be prepared in advance, reheated in the oven and put under the grill [broiler] just before serving. Serve with buttered broccoli, a tomato salad, crusty rolls and cold, white wine.
In the United States sweet aspic salads are often served as an accompaniment to meat and poultry, in the place of the more conventional green or mixed salad. This aspic salad could be served with roast chicken or a roast leg of lamb. Almond and Black Cherry Aspic Salad is served with meat or poultry.
This is an inexpensive and attractive dessert. The apples should be very tart for the best results.
