What do I love more than cooking turon? Eating them, of course.

I love its crispy sweet goodness. Perfect for a summer treat!

Cooking turon (banana lumpia or sweet banana rolls) is very easy. All you need is some plantains, spring roll wrappers and you're set. Some however, add other ingredients in their turon. One famous variation of cooking turon is adding jackfruit (langka) strips with the plantain. I personally, don't care much for jackfruit. It's too sweet for me. I prefer the cooking turon with nothing but brown sugar in it. I like it crispy, and nothing more.

Here's how I do it.

Ingredients in cooking turon:
- ripened plantain, saba banana or any bananas used for cooking

Let's start cooking turon.
1. Slice the bananas lengthwise into 3-4 pieces. The thinner the slice, the better.

Quick tip: Melt the brown sugar in warm water, if you don't want to very sweet turon.

3. Individually wrap the sweetened bananas using the spring roll wrappers. Seal the edge of the roll by damping a bit of water with your hands.
4. Deep-fry the turon rolls.
5. Drain when cooked.
6. Serve while its hot.

Cooking turon is ideal for the summer and as a dessert any time of the year. It's perfect with your home-made iced tea.  Another variation of eating turon is having a scoop of cold vanilla ice cream on its side. Yumm! Now, I'm hungry...
