Girly Christmas Sugar Cookies

IMG_0275-2 I think we've all seen those adorable pastel colored sugar cookies on Pinterest and wanted to make ones similar. Well, today I decided to get creative and decorate some cookies! I'm not very skilled when it comes to cookies, mainly because i've never really tried to make pretty cookies. I always make ones that do not require decorating. So I decided to give it a try! Decorating these cookies was actually very fun and relaxing, I was so sad after I decorated them all because I wanted to decorate more! This recipe came from a 1949 recipe book called  Enjoy Good Eating Every Day by Aunt Jenny.

Sugar Cookies

Makes about 30 cookies
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 tbsp. milk
PREHEAT 375 degrees.
COMBINE crisco, salt, nutmeg, sugar and eggs until smooth. Combine flour, baking soda and baking powder in a separate bowl. Slowly add into crisco mixture, mix until dough forms. If dough is soft place in refriderator for 30 minutes - 1 hour.
ROLL out dough and cut out shapes. Place on baking sheet and bake 10-12 minutes.
DECORATE however you want! I used buttercream frosting, a Wilton #16 tip and colored my frosting light pink and light blue. I also added some decorative sprinkles.
